Friday Tech News - Yep. GenAI, Security, and DevOps!

4/5/2024

Good morning and Happy Friday!

I’m back from Spring break and am glad it was a quieter week in the tech industry to report on.

Thank you so much for making this a part of your Friday morning coffee time. I'm Phil Moroni, and I'm an Account Executive in the Information Technology industry here with another edition of Friday Tech News!

What is this? This is a newsletter that provides updates and insights on the latest trends and developments in the technology industry. I am a professional who specializes in supporting IT leaders in evaluating, investing, and managing people, processes, and technology tools that support their businesses.

Each week, I summarize relevant industry updates from popular Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM's), software publishers, and managed providers. The goal of my research and newsletter is to keep you informed about current trends and events that may impact your business from a trusted and reputable source. It's just information I'm sharing, and I follow and work with hundreds of partners in the industry, keeping track of their growth, changes, and evolution so that you don't have to.

Bottom Line: As you focus on improving your business through digital initiatives, my commitment is to keep you informed of the fast-paced changes and trends taking place so that you can plan ahead and stay ahead of the game.

Key areas of focus for me are:

  1. Cloud Computing, Security, Trends

  2. Developer & Security Tools

  3. Networking & Infrastructure Tools

  4. End User Tools & Workspace Tech

  5. Emerging Technologies and Future Concepts

If you have any questions, would like information about any specific vendors I follow, or would like to have a conversation about any topic that is challenging you, I invite you to engage with me! I value feedback immensely and would love to know what you find valuable about this newsletter so feel free to reach out!

Thank you for reading and stay digitally and physically safe!

Phil

OEM News & Updates 📰

  • Collaboration between both is nice to see. Deeper partnership with two critical vendors that many invest in.

  • They’re focusing on Enterprise apps here which I haven’t seen many do yet.

  • Automated security workflows from Invicti in ServiceNow

  • ServiceNow clearly is dominating in the partnership space and many are adopting more modules from them and have them on their LTRs.

  • Big fan of this - I see Kubecost doing great things in the world and like how they’re leading from the front.

  • Real time security alerting with AI. Super useful and I’m seeing a big uptick in the tanium market share for the EDR market.

  • CVE-2024-3094 is a big deal. Their detection is based on behavioral analysis by Binarly’s AI engine.

  • Free to use

  • Cloudflare going deeper into the Developer world.

  • Suite of management tools to make the developer experience easier.

  • Provides granular visibility and rule setting capabilities to protect websites and applications from malicious automated traffic.

  • This is wild to me. But, expected to see with the future of data centers lying mostly around the giant hyperscalers.

  • new features from XM Cyber help users find and fix critical exposures.

  • yep, you guessed it. This is their subtle AI announcement 🙂.

  • Great to see

  • I hate it when companies do ALL CAPS. Didn’t we leave that with the AOL days?

  • New service in the catalog designed to transform content rendering pipelines which should make it easier to set up a cloud based render farm and scale rendering projects.

  • Waiting for Garlic, Onion Powder, and others to come from this. Should they and Chef get married, we’d see the full kitchen of names for products

Articles I Liked This Week 💡

  • What are your thoughts on this?

  • The article suggests there’s a paradigm shift happening in infrastructure provisioning which presents this new method that prioritizes application code and eases burden on devs.

  • Who needs more attention? Security practitioners or DevOps practitioners? Or are both equal?

  • Bold claims on corporate priorities from Microsoft

  • This was preventable.

  • Points made about Microsoft having lackluster security enforcement in general. To the people investing solely in E5 licensing, be careful. The rush to market and capture of market share for various security tools that 3rd parties would normally take care of is something to be on guard for. There are best of breed vendors solving problems that Microsoft simply doesn’t care about solving right now.

  • Protect your email and users with a 3rd party tool.

  • Don’t skimp on things like CSPM and SIEM.

Tech Funding & M&A 💸

  • Permiso is a California based Cybersecurity platform that provides solutions such as cloud identity detection and threat response for enterprises.

  • TrojAI is a Canada based Cybersecurity platform that enables enterprises to protect AI/ML applications and infrastructure.

Meme of the week 🤣
