This week’s meme says wraps up the summer’s worth of tech updates perfectly. Announcements weren’t abundant this week but that’s okay as we wrap up summer. There are some interesting announcements in DevOps and Cyber this week from GitLab and CrowdStrike, of course featuring flairs of securing GenAI workloads and apps.

OEM News & Updates 📰

  • GitLab has made a GenAI Add-on for its CI/CD platform GA @ $39 PUPM.

  • The Add-on includes tools for vulnerability explanation and resolution, RCA, and AI impact tracking on DevOps workflows.

  • AI in software development is going to become real and improve productivity for developers overall, resulting in increased accuracy, faster deployments, and increased security posture.

  • Balbix has launched an AI powered conversational assistant for cyber risk and exposure management.

  • BIX, as it's known, uses RAG based LLMs and multi-agent architecture to handle complex cybersecurity tasks efficiently.

  • Early users report significant improvements in understanding risk, decision making, and response times which have led to reduced risk and increased productivity.

  • DigitalOcean has introduced new predefined roles to simplify permission management and enhance security. The roles include Modifier, Billing Viewer, and Resource Viewer.

  • The new roles help administrators provide customizable access levels to ensure users have only necessary access and permissions to do their job functions.

  • They also plan to introduce per-bucket Spaces access keys and custom RBAC roles for more tailored permission sets.

  • CrowdStrike is collaborating with NVIDIA to enhance the security of NVIDIA NIM Agent Blueprints using the AI-native Falcon platform (now everything is AI native / powered btw).

  • The partnership aims to help devs securely leverage open-source foundational models and accelerate genAI innovation.

  • The focus is on building secure, enterprise grade genAI apps such as CSM chatbots and drug discovery tools.

  • Broadcom announced this cloud-native application platform to try and accelerate software delivery while increasing bills for customers.

  • It'll help app teams deliver GenAI powered apps quickly and safely with built-in AI development frameworks.

  • Includes automated container builds, secure service binding, spring app security, and faster start-up times for spring apps.

  • Dremio has introduced new features like Live Reflections and Result Set Caching to significantly improve analytics performance.

  • The platform now includes self-optimizing query acceleration and automatic iceberg data ingestion.

  • The advancements help enterprises enhance their data analytics capabilities to make data driven decisions.
