OEM News & Updates 📰

  • This is a long awaited announcement from Wiz, and something that customers are going to welcome. YES it’s another agent to deploy…but have you experienced some of the new, modern, elegant agents out there today? Knowing Wiz, it’ll be something that truly will be impactful to customers.

  • Big for the federal agency space, it’ll meet stringent security and compliance requirements of the government. It’ll help them improve efficiency, productivity, and data analysis.

  • I really like what Traceable is doing in the marketplace. Their founder is also one to watch as he’s had a few very successful startups including AppDynamics and Harness.

  • Great announcement from CrowdStrike. The feature is part of the Falcon Complete platform and allows you to automatically discover and secure unmanaged cloud assets with a single click.

  • Snyk had a big week (see below in funding) and this is a cool new integration they’re coming out with. It’ll allow developers to scan their code for vulnerabilities and issues directly from Jira Software and to create tickets for remediation.

  • I don’t see Vanta enough in the wild, but, I’m sure with a partnership like this, it’s probably legitimate technology to investigate from a compliance audit perspective.

  • Good new automation abilities if you’re utilizing the Power Platform internally. The connector allows users to create data-driven apps and insights without writing code or moving data.

  • Just learned about Alteryx recently, admittedly. This will automate and enhance data analysis.

  • Cool to see from Flexera, this will help provide visibility, control, and automation for IBM software licensing and compliance.

  • Cisco Live was this week, with new announcements and big updates from the behemoth.

  • This aims to reduce the friction and fatigue associated with MFA. The service is called PingOne Risk Aware MFA and it uses behavioral biometrics and risk profiles to dynamically adjust the level of authentication required for each user and transaction.

  • I keep seeing great security enhancements from Zoom. Great product and always a great experience. It’s my go-to after MSFT Teams (teams for ease of use and integration with other MSFT apps is second to none).

  • Tines Case Management allows security teams to create, assign, track, and resolve security cases within Tines. It’ll also integrate with other tools such as Slack, Jira, SNOW, and Splunk.

  • Expect fast and accurate search results for complex queries such as images, audio, and natural language.

  • Vertex AI Workbench is new and will provide an integrated development environment for building and deploying AI models.

  • More new acronyms to learn including CxSAST Enhanced AST Engine (EASE) which uses AI to improve code analysis accuracy and speed. It’ll also use AI to visualize software dependencies and vulnerabilities, then prioritize high risk vulnerabilities up.

  • Cool partnership for Lacework. Deepwatch is known for their threat detection and response, and with Lacework’s cloud workload protection and compliance capabilities I think it’s a great match to support customers overall Cloud Security Posture.

  • Super interesting to see from Google. This offering comes with generative AI for content creation, data augmentation, data synthesis and Data Anonymization. Read more for what all those are 😃.

  • Though Gartner isn’t the end all be all, I like what GitLab is doing and am glad they were recognized here as a leader for Continuous Integration tools.

  • Big announcement from OneTrust. This new set of connectors enable data discovery across a variety of data sources. You can scan, classify, and catalog data across 200 data sources such as databases, cloud, applications, and APIs.

  • Few major updates: Identity threat detection, supply chain detection, enhanced drift control, live threat investigation (including Live Mapping and a Process Tree to unveil attack journey from user to process) and curated threat dashboards.

Articles I Liked This Week 💡

  • Not good news. Keep protecting yourself and your businesses from ransomware. If you need solution advice, these articles are full of great links to vendors who offer various backup solutions including Commvault, Cohesity, and R

  • A recurring theme - finding these vulnerabilities and misconfigurations is one thing, but how are you fixing them and solving for root cause?

  • Scary stuff, will be interesting to see how EDR/XDR vendors respond to new and evolving threats created by Generative AI.

  • Good tips and points about Cloud Optimization. This is hard to do and takes a lot of coordination, partnership, and effort across the organization and maybe even a trusted partner of two 😉.

  • Again the theme of Optimization comes up. How are you balancing your innovation efforts versus your optimization efforts? Do you have “spaghetti code” in your environment today from unoptimized IT?

Tech Funding & M&A 💸

  • ConnectALL is a Georgia based SaaS platform that provides solutions such as value stream management and data insights for businesses.

  • Enso Security is an Israeli based Application Security Posture Management (ASPM) platform that provides solutions such as application security management, orchestration, and threat protection for enterprises.

  • Great pickup for Snyk.
