Friday Tech News

Highlights from Enterprise Tech | 03.21.2025

Good morning and welcome to another edition of Friday Tech News! I hope you’ve had a wonderful week.

What. A. Week. I started my week off in Austin seeing new customers and potential ones. It was a wonderful trip and I’m grateful to have met and seen so many people, including some long lost friends.

The news of the week though is clearly the Wiz acquisition by Google. I made a deeper LinkedIn post on this and left comments below under the article link, but I think ultimately this is a great move to bolster the awareness and funding for cybersecurity in cloudsec.

I’m excited for all my friends over there, congratulations to everyone involved in the deal. More cool funding announcements also came through as well as some great M&A.

As always, thank you for reading this and I hope you stay physically and digitally safe this weekend!

Best,

Phil

  • Already widespread impact on this and very cool to see the expanded partnership from DB.

  • Balbix introduced BX5, an AI engine designed to improve risk management with advanced differential processing and specialized small language models (SLMs).

  • The new version of BIX their GenAI assistant offers faster responses, chain of thought reasoning, real time internet access, and multi-modal outputs like charts and trend analyses.

  • Early adopters are reporting faster mean time to mitigate (MTTM) for criticals.

  • Businesses can tailor the AI companion to their needs using AI Studio to create things like custom meeting templates, dictionaries, and integration of 3rd party apps.

  • This is crowded space for collaboration and I personally am not a huge fan of Zoom meetings and how they manage things. Just my personal pref.

  • Cloudflare introduced the Cloudforce One Threat Events Feed which offers real-time intel on cyberattacks.

  • The feed provides actionable insights tailored to specific environments, industries, and regions.

Tech Funding & M&A 💸

  • Lots of major analysts takes on this out there. See Mike Privette, James Berthoty’s, and Chris Hughes talk from earlier this week on it. Latio Tech also produced a good write up of the impact.

  • Interesting to see how this will impact GCP revenues and potential shifts from other CSPs as IaaS and PaaS providers.

  • Kinda goes against what Yinon told me back in September after the last bid. For more on that, check out the interview I did with him here where he said they weren't looking to be acquired after the last $23B offer. But what’s $10B more.

  • Congrats to all involved - super excited for the future of improved Cloud Security.
