Friday Tech News

9/20/2024

Good morning and Happy Friday from Southern New Jersey!

Some solid updates this week in tech, notably from CrowdStrike on several partnerships and announcements from Fal.con 2024. Anyone else see the shots fired by S1 during it? LOL. There was also a huge announcement from Microsoft and Blackrock on a new fund for AI.

Anyway, I hope you’ve had a great week and have a super restful and enjoyable weekend!

Stay physically and digitally safe!

OEM News & Updates 📰

  • CrowdStrike introduces another SPM. Ugh. AISPM and DSPM are now part of Falcon Cloud Security. Great offering, but I'm just tired of the posture management buzzword.

  • Falcon Cloud Security now offers comprehensive visibility and protection for cloud infrastructure, apps, data, and AI models from a sole platform that honestly is really great.

  • More "platformization”.

  • Dazz (some of my favorite peeps if you've kept up with FTN for a while) have partnered with CRWD to integrate into Falcon Cloud Security. Dope.

  • Great partnership and alignment. Happy to see it!

  • Reltio launched Reltio Data Pipeline for Databricks which is a prebuilt solution connecting Reltio with DB. No more custom integrations.

  • The pipeline pushes real-time, insight ready data from Reltio's offerings to the Databricks data intelligence platform to obviously enable AI analytics.

  • Supports AI/ML, business intelligence, and analytics initiatives by providing high quality trusted data in real time."

  • Elasticsearch now supports Hugging Face models with native chunking through the integration of the semantic_text field.

  • This enables quick shipments of Genai apps without custom chunking logic.

  • It also combines Hugging Face's embeddings with Elastic's retrieval relevance tools for better insights and improved search.

  • Microsoft aims to make Windows more resilient to security incidents by helping security vendors operate outside kernel mode.

  • No news on when this new platform will come out, but it's gaining tons of input from the community to overcome key challenges in performance, sensor requirements, and anti-tampering protection."

  • ServiceNow's new Xanadu release introduces AI-driven solutions for various industries.

  • These GenAI capabilities help organizations improve productivity, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

  • AgenticAI is here to stay. I’m pretty sure my buddy Eric Vogelpohl has been telling me this for a while 😃.

  • OpenAI has launched the OpenAI o1 series, designed to enhance reasoning capabilities through reinforcement learning.

  • The model matches the performance of human PhD students in physics, chem, and pretty much everything else including programming.

  • They've improved model safety by embedding safety rules directly into the model's reasoning process.

  • Cohesity and CrowdStrike have partnered to enhance threat detection and response capabilities.

  • The integration of Cohesity's Data Platform with CRWDs threat intelligence helps identify and respond to sophisticated threats more effectively.

  • Partnership aims to offer better visibility into attacks, improved threat hunting, and automated defenses to reduce risk and enhance resilience.

  • Datadog has announced the general availability of its monitoring platform for OCI.

  • Helps in migration from on-prem to OCI environments and on multi cloud visibility strategies.

  • Provides a unified interface - not a single pane of glass - for monitoring OCI, on prem, and other clouds. Very cool.

  • F5 announced GA of NGINX One which combines advanced load balancing, web and application server capabilities, API gateway functionalities, and security features into a single package.

  • NGINX One allows for simplified management and security of NGINX instances and NGINX Open Source from a single cloud management interface for enhanced visibility and efficiency.

  • Huge benefits in the Enterprise.
