OEM News & Updates 📰

  • Midwest options are lacking for failover currently. This is a good announcement both for AWS and for Ohio as the economic impact will be surely be felt by many.

  • Snowflake is aiming to become the preferred platform for AI with partnerships like these. They’re expanding their AI capabilities to enable customers to run large scale Gen AI models and ML workloads on the Snowflake Data Cloud

  • Great enhancement to view overall security posture of the Data Cloud.

  • MongoDB customers can now leverage GCP to enrich data, perfrom advanced analytics, and build intelligent applications on the platform.

  • PURE has released some new arrays in their FlashArray product line. the X70 is impressive with 1.5Pb of RAW capacity in a 6U Form Factor. Comes with Purity software, obviously!

  • Big announcement for customers in the hybrid phase of digital transformation. This will allow for a consistent management experience across on-premises and public cloud environments while paying for only what you use.

  • Not too many major announcements I tracked from SC Awards Europe 2023. Notable from CrowdStrike and honestly not surprising.

  • I’ve been a big fan of Immuta for about 24 months now. I like what they’re doing and clearly so does Snowflake around data policies, encryption, etc. in the Data Cloud.

  • I like what Knowbe4 does and the content they produce. As a father, stuff like this is welcomed and I’m hopeful more companies can embrace this sort of culture and marketing.

  • I had never heard of AtScale, but I’m super curious about them now. This partnership will provide customers with a seamless and secure data pipeline that supports data preparation, modeling, deployment, and monitoring of AI applications.

  • In the world of Cloud Cost Management, there’s not too many players but with FinOpsX happening this week + the acquisition of Apptio by IBM, FinOps is becoming more prevalent in the mainstream media. This service will analyze AWS usage patterns, identify waste and inefficiencies, and provide actionable recommendations to reduce costs by up to 50%.

  • APM 360 is a performance management solution that provides end-to-end visibility and insights into the performance and health across the entire software stack.

  • More data related announcements and partnerships. I like this one from BigID - expect better automated security and governance for data lakes and data warehouses in the cloud.

  • Interesting announcement. It allows customers to search data in a secure and scalable manner without exposing encrypted data.

  • Cool from NetApp, this is a continuous delivery solution that automates the deployment and management of containerized applications on K8s clusters in the cloud.

  • This new feature includes a risk scoring system,, a prioritization engine, and a workflow engineer which enables customers to identify and prioritize the resolution of security issues faster.

  • Observability in the cloud can be challenging. Chronosphere has released a new framework to help customers control costs by looking at 4 pillars: scalability, efficiency, flexibility, and intelligence. These combined help reduce complexity of observability to gain actionable insight.

  • Interesting pivot from Noname. I haven’t seen any of the other API security companies offer this yet, but I’m sure we’ll see something coming from SALT, Traceable, Wib, etc…

  • This is cool! AppFabric enables customers to discover, connect, secure and monitor SaaS applications across different AWS regions and accounts, as well as from different CSPs and On Prem environments!

  • More data related announcements and partnerships. Alteryx and Snowflake together is a cool combination. The Automated Decision Intelligence capabilities allow customers to automate and scale their data-driven decision making processes on the Data Cloud.

  • A good friend of mine works here and so I’ve been following them since he told me he was going to work there. Very cool announcement from VGS. This new product, VGS vault is a snowflake native app that enables customers to secure and manage their sensitive data on the Data Cloud.

  • New integrations mean new enablements. Customers can now accelerate and optimize their end to end machine learning workflows on the Data Cloud. This includes a number of feature updates as well.

  • Alation is doing cool things and launched a new feature for Snowflake this week customers should investigate.

  • Trend Micro has quietly been building a comprehensive and robust cloud security platform. This now provides customers with comprehensive and proactive security across endpoints, networks, cloud, and email.

  • Cato Networks Threat Hunting System (CTHS) is an AI powered tracker for malware communications that enables customers to identify and block malicious traffic.

  • Scary stuff. Good content coming from Zscaler after Zenith.

  • Expect improvement to security capabilities in GCP with Thales using Gen AI powered capabilities.

  • Recover faster and more efficiently - Rubrik will now integrate into more Microsoft platforms including 365, and Defender for Endpoint.

  • Again, Snowflake coming to win this week.

  • This looks to be the first Island competitor I’ve seen. Red Access has an agentless browsing platform that enables customers to access any web app securely and priveately from any device and location.

  • This is pretty cool since Open Source is so prevalent in the world. The feature ranks the reliability of open source projects based on various metrics and criteria. It should help customers with insights and benchmarks on their projects while encouraging developers of open source projects to implement best practices (especially for security).

Articles I Liked This Week 💡

  • Interesting shots fired moment here. I’ve been wondering how long this could last since Microsoft EA’s have long been the contract vehicles that have locked in customers to Microsoft Technologies (not a bad thing, just a fact).
